Janakpur, also known as Janakpurdham is located about 225 km (140 miles) south-east of Kathmandu and 22 km from the Indian border of terai region. It was once the capital of the Videha Dynasty that ruled Mithila region in the ancient times. Janakpur city is a centre for religious and cultural tourism. Hindu believes Lord Ram wedded Sita and thousands of devotee come to the temple of Janaki Mandhir every year from all over the world to celebrate their marriage anniversary. Vivaha Panchami, Dipawali, Vijayadashami, Chhath Puja and holi are some major religious hindu festivals celebrated here. Janaki Mandhir is also the largest temple of Nepal with it's massive three-story construction and 60 rooms which was build in 19th century. There is also more then 100 sacred pools and ponds scattered around the tranquil city.

Chitwan National Park is one of the first National Park in Nepal, established in 1973 which is also listed in an UNESCO Heritage site. The main activity here is in Chitwan are exploring wildlife by foot , jeep , boat or elephant. Chitwan National park is a home to mammals such as endangered one-horned rhinoceros , Bengal tiger ,spotted leopard , sloth bear, langur and rhesus monkey , sambar deer and chital , and reptails species like gharial and mugger crocodiles , monitior lizard , rock python and king cobra. Atlist 543 species of birds has been recorded since 2006 which includes swamp francolin, slender-billed babblers , storks , kingfishers , Gould's sunbird , slaty-breasted rail and many more making this wildlife safari adventurous and exciting. Around 563 BCE, Queen Mahamayadevi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama (Gautam Buddha) who is known to be founder of Buddhism. That's where the temple Maya Devi got its name after his mother. Dolpa district is part of Karnali Region of mid-western Nepal. It is surrounded by Dhaulagiri and Churen Himal ranges at the east and south and Jumla District to the west.
